Somehow I missed this story, when it was posted. I came across it in the exwood archive and felt the need to comment.
I love how Fraser manages to help Ray overcome his insecurities, although he doesn't quite understand them himself.
Poor freaked-out Ray. *hugs him*
Thank godness, they didn't freak out both at the same time. That would have been a disaster. So thank you for not going there ;-)

I really like stories like this, where everything isn't finished just because they've had sex. The beginning of a relationship can be such a shaky time, where you're not sure of where you standing with the other person, and you showed that beautifully. Poor Ray, he's so insecure here, and so absolutely convinced that he can't have Fraser. And ouch, it's painful being in his head when he looks at himself in the mirror. (If he only knew about the fangirls who obsess over his every body part... : ) ) Also, the sex is wonderfully hot, and I love the way you use the mirror. Yum.

Oh, Nos, this was so lovely! My stomach was in knots at the bar, when Ray was having his freakout. And the whole painful wannabe-breakup with Fraser--oh, man. Just so awkward and hurty and absolutely confusing for Fraser. I felt so bad for him, and I love that so did Ray. You really showed that even in the midst of his own emotional mess, he still tried to take care of Fraser, to make it easier on him.
I like the way you've seeded all the way through the story Ray's perceptions of Fraser's own imperfections--scars and dry elbows and an uncircumcised dick that took some getting used to--and his simultaneous acceptance of them and his feeling that Fraser is perfect. And he sees no trace of irony there, and no inkling of how that would hold the same for Fraser's perception of him. Aw. I'm also really digging the hints of all the hot sexin' that's been going on the past two weeks, all the little memories, their first kiss. And the memories that contributed to Ray's issues in some way, other people's dismissive gazes all adding up over the years.
Those guys in the bar bathroom, so horrible! I bet next time they see a well-laid, relaxed and happy Ray they'll change their tune. :)
You did a great job with Mark too. I really like what you've done with his character, how he's redeemed himself and really brought everything around. The TV interview was great.
But my favorite part? I think it has to be when Fraser declares that it's his right to tell Ray he loves him. That he's earned that right. Oh, boys! That was just... so, so wonderful. All vulnerable and brave and just fantastic. And so is your story.

Whoa! Very hot! Ray's insecurities, and Fraser finally realising, and showing him how he sees Ray. The mirror! *loves*

I would totally be using this comment to flail and squee about the wonderful characterisations and fantastic way that Ray's utter lack of self-confidence is portrayed except that I am /dead/ from porn.
Seriously. There's little wisps of smoke coming out my ears and I'm fairly sure I've shorted out some synapses.
/Wonderful/ story.

Seriously awesome. Ray felt so real and the mirror was really smartly worked in. I sound kind of awkward because you killed me with hot. <3 <3

Ray freaks out so endearingly! And Fraser, with issues of his own. Plus that sex scene, with them standing in front of the mirror looking at each other? Very, very hot.

how much do i love the way fraser loves ray in this story??? THIS MUCH: [_________O_________] the mirror was used so skillfully both as an emotional device and as the crazy-hottest sex toy i'd never have considered. the idea of ray looking back and seeing fraser's expression = me dead from guh and also love.

Oh MY. Is this the hottest, most poignant thing ever or WHAT??? Seriously... an in-depth look at Ray's insecurities, dredging up every one of his fears and Fraser baring himself right alongside, facing their demons in the mirror. And then the lovemaking, because that is *exactly* what it was. Great googly moogly. Just... guh.

First off, let me just say:
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
This is steamy and loving and beautifully written and I am so jazzed that it is for ME.
Ahem. That was maybe not too coherent.
I love the whole mirror theme, how it starts off as a showcase for Ray's insecurities and becomes evidence in Fraser's refutation of them (the part where he makes Ray smile about the ducks is so funny--Huey! with a pool skimmer!--and so perfectly right, because YES, that smile) and then becomes the centerpiece of a really smokin' sex scene, my GOD.
And I love the little details around the edges of the story--the condom wrappers Ray can't bring himself to throw away, the handprints on the mirror, Ray burning the spaghetti sauce.
This is just wonderful, and thank you so much for all your talent and time.
